Dear Casillas Families and Community:

It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I write this letter of introduction as your new principal of Casillas Elementary School. I am truly honored to have the opportunity to work alongside such a caring, committed group of educators and school community! I feel so fortunate to be a part of the Casillas familly.

I was born and raised in Bakersfield, California where both of my parents were educators and instilled in me the love of learning early on. That passion for learning led me to follow in their footsteps and pursue a career in the field. This year will be my 20th year in education. I was a teacher for 10 years in the K-12 Juvenile Court and Community School program and I have been in administration at both the site and district level for nine years. I am thrilled to bring my background and experience to Casillas Elementary School and work together as partners in education to ensure your child’s success. The elementary years are an extremely important and critical time. Their experiences during these formative years will have a lasting impression on their growth and development. To that end, we have been hard at work preparing for this new school year to provide instruction that is rigorous, engaging, and joyful.

As you know from the Superintendent’s most recent communication, the 2020-21 school year will start in the Distance Learning Model. At this time, I do not have any further information or updates regarding what the new Distance Learning Model will look like at Casillas but will be sure to share with you all as soon as I do. Between now and the beginning of the school year, the district will be communicating frequently. Additional information on changes to our school environment will be shared with you prior to the start of school year, which will begin on August 31st.

One of the most important aspects of my work at Casillas is building strong relationships with students, teachers, and families and I look forward to getting to know you and your child/children this year. I am always available for you, and the best way to reach me is via email until our office opens on August 12th. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out at I appreciate your support and look forward to a wonderful school year!
